Takeaways

  1. Prevent unmoderated communication with Silent Mode and Chaperone Mode to ensure safe, admin-led experiences.
  2. Empower moderators with expanded permissions like messaging controls, guestlist access, and event management.
  3. Zoom in and out of worlds without entering builder mode to navigate large spaces and easily find areas where users are gathering.
  4. Use new session data fields in Dashboard to track attendance and monitor engagement over time.

Silent Mode

Quickly and easily turn off all communication (video, audio, chat) in your world with Silent Mode.

Sometimes, you need to hit pause on conversations in a world to host focused activities without distraction or to reset group dynamics. That’s where Silent Mode comes in.

When Silent Mode is turned on, all communication is disabled, including:

  • Chat Channels
  • Video and audio connections
  • Direct Messages (Group and 1:1)

World admins with Moderator, Manager, or Owner roles can toggle this setting from World Settings > General User Controls. When Silent Mode is on, all users will be notified that all communication is now disabled.

If an admin enters a world where Silent Mode is on (and no other admins were present), they'll see a prompt asking if they want to turn Silent Mode off.

Chaperone Mode

Automatically activate Silent Mode when no admins are present in a world.

With Chaperone Mode, you never have to worry about users being left in an unmoderated space. For example, if you forget to close your world or moderators aren’t in a world when it opens, Chaperone Mode has your back.

When Chaperone Mode is on, Silent Mode will automatically activate the moment the last admin leaves the world. Here’s what happens:

  • All communication is instantly disabled.
  • All users still in the world will be notified that communication is off.

This feature ensures your community is only able to communicate when a moderator is present and levels up safety in your worlds.

Note: If you would like Chaperone Mode enabled for your world, please reach out to [email protected] and a member of our team can help.

Expanded Moderator Permissions

Give moderators more of the tools they need.

We’ve updated the Moderator role based on feedback from our community, educators and platform partners. Moderators now have access to:

  1. Approved Guestlist (World Settings > Approved Guestlist)

  2. 💬 Messaging Fields (World Settings > Messaging)

  3. 📅 Event Management (Events > Manage Events and Summary)

  4. 🔐 World Password Field (World Settings > Authentication)

These updates give moderators the flexibility to manage their worlds more independently, without requiring full administrative access.

World Zoom

Explore and navigate worlds more easily with no builder mode required.

You can now zoom in and out of a world at any time using simple gestures or keyboard shortcuts. This makes it easier to find where the action is—whether that’s a crowd of users, an interactive area, or a new experience.

How to Zoom:

  • Desktop:
    • Press ( + ) or ( – )
    • Mouse: Scroll
    • Trackpad: Pinch (spread fingers to zoom in, pinch together to zoom out)
  • Mobile:
    • Pinch to zoom in or out

This feature is especially helpful in large worlds or during events and helps users get oriented quickly.

User Sessions Tab Updates

Gain visibility into user attendance with more detailed session data.

In Dashboard > Worlds > World Detail > User Sessions, you’ll now see:

  • Leave Time
  • Session Duration
  • Username
  • Email (only shown to users with “Manage Users” permission or Manager role, and when Email Sharing is enabled)

📌 Note: Sessions that began before, during, or throughout the selected time window will appear in the list.

This is especially useful for schools and organizations that need to:

  • Track attendance for live events or classes.
  • Monitor engagement during specific time windows.
